ST. LANDRY, La. (KLFY) -- Six people were indicted in connection with the 2020 murder of a 66-year-old Lawtell man, a day after what would have been the victim's 70th birthday, the St. Landry Parish District Attorney announced Friday.

District Attorney Chad Pitre said in a news release that the following people were indicted for the second-degree murder of Joseph Vallian:

• Leeland Valliere, the victim's son
• Lester Johnson Jr.
• Dennis Patrick Guillory Jr.
• Dylan Young
• Desmond Richard
• Rasheed Zachary

Pitre said Vallian was found brutally beaten while tied up in his home in an apparent robbery homicide on Sept. 15, 2020.

"Today we made progress in bringing justice to the family of this beloved gentleman while getting dangerous criminals off the street," Pitre said.
