'Legend!' Trump rally erupts for ousted MAGA sheriff accused of racially profiling

MAGA supporters erupted into cheers on Friday as former President Donald Trump called out longtime Arizona ally and former sheriff Joe Arpaio.

"Is that [former] Sheriff Joe?!" Trump shouted at his rally in Glendale, Arizona, appearing to be stunned.

Arpaio was ousted as sheriff of Maricopa County — the state's most populous county — and taxpayers were reportedly still paying bills this year stemming from a racial profiling verdict over his immigration crackdowns, according to The Associated Press. That tab was expected to reach $314 million by the middle of 2025.

But that didn't dissuade Trump supporters. As he walked away from the podium, the crowd burst into cheers for the former sheriff.

"That's [former] Sheriff Joe! Look at that," Trump continued as the lengthy applause continued. "A legend!"

Arpaio waved to supporters in a livestream of the event.

Trump praised Arpaio's efforts at the border as sheriff, a position he was ousted from seven years ago.

"When Joe was at the border you didn't have people coming in," said Trump. "I think for the one year he had one person come in but they got him."

The former president called it an "honor" that Arpaio came to his rally, and said he did a "job like nobody else."

"It's true," said Trump. "Great going, Joe."
