Jess Jonassen Does A Shah Rukh Khan At WCPL 2024 During Trinbago Knight Riders Vs Barbados Royals Tie – WATCH

New Delhi: Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen did Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic pose in the ongoing Women’s Caribbean Premier League, a video of which went viral on social media. Playing for Trinbago Knight Riders, Jonassen’s SRK pose came out when she dismissed Aaliyah Alleyne of Barbados Royals at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba in Trinidad on Friday. The dismissal happened in the 15th over of Barbados Royals’ run chase.

The light-hearted celebration instantly brought smiles to the faces of fans, adding a touch of Bollywood glamour to the WCPL. Social media quickly caught on to the moment, with fans sharing clips of Jonassen’s celebration and drawing comparisons to the beloved Bollywood star’s signature pose.

Notable, Shah Rukh is the co-owner of the Knight Riders group alongside Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta. The Knight Riders own franchises in CPL, Indian Premier League, ILT20 and Major League Cricket.

Speaking about the game, Barbados Royals began their campaign with a convincing seven-wicket victory over Trinbago Knight Riders. After winning the toss and opting to bowl, Barbados Royals restricted the TKR to a modest total of 113/9 in their allotted 20 overs. The Barbados bowlers led by Hayley Matthews and Amanda Wellington, put on a clinical display to keep the opposition batters in check.

Despite some resistance from Deandra Dottin, who scored 28 off 26 balls, and Shikha Pandey’s crucial 30 off 34 balls, TKR struggled to build momentum. Zaida James added a quick-fire 22 off 18 balls lower down the order, but Barbados Royals’ disciplined bowling effort made it difficult for the TKR to post a competitive total. Chinelle Henry, Matthews, and Amanda Wellington each took two wickets, with Wellington particularly impressive, conceding just 14 runs in her 4 overs.

In response, the Royals chased the target with 17 balls and seven wickets to spare. Skipper Matthews stayed unbeaten with 67 runs off 56 balls, hitting 12 boundaries. Qiana Joseph, Aaliyah Alleyne and Lauran Harris also chipped in with some runs on the board. Apart from Jonassen, Anisa Mohammed bagged one wicket for TKR. Matthews was named Player of the Match for her all-round performance, which included two wickets and a match-winning half-century.

With the win, Barbados Royals consolidated their top spot in the points table following back-to-back victories over Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinibago Knight Riders.
