Drier, warmer weekend weather around the PNW

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Drier and warmer weather returns to Oregon and Washington this weekend as typical August weather remains absent.

A sun and clouds mix will remain over the greater Portland, Vancouver metro area Saturday. Mostly dry skies will remain as the chance for a few light rain showers increase by the afternoon. Rainfall totals will be lacking compared to the Friday's rain.

Increasing sunshine will help warm temperatures closer to August's averages by the middle of next week. Recent rainfall and cooler conditions will help keep Oregon's wildfire threat lower as hot and dry conditions return to the forecast. Rainfall totals for the month of August remain higher than average. Those higher rainfall totals will also help suppress the wildfire threat when temperatures return to the low 90s next week.

A gradual and brief warming trend will peak Monday with highs returning to the low 80s. Another light rain shower or two will drop temperatures into the 70s Tuesday with a quick rebound. Above-average conditions will return to the Willamette Valley by the end of the week as 90s return to the forecast.
