Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca reveals plans to sign ANOTHER striker before transfer window closes

CHELSEA boss Enzo Maresca has revealed the club will attempt to sign a new striker before the transfer window closes next week.

The Blues have already signed 10 players so far this summer and spent over £200million.

Joao Felix became Maresca’s latest addition this week following his £42million move from Atletico Madrid.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Omari Kellyman, Aaron Anselmino, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley, Marc Guiu and Tosin Adarabioyo have also moved to Stamford Bridge recently, taking the overall squad size to at least 40 players.

Despite his already bloated squad, Maresca is keen to add a new striker to his ranks before next Friday’s transfer deadline.

In his pre-Wolves press conference on Friday, the Italian said: “If we have the chance to bring in a nine that can help us and make the difference, then we are going to try.”

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in recent weeks.

The Italian side have reportedly agreed to sign Blues star Romelu Lukaku in a £38m deal.

Lukaku’s arrival at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona could enable Osimhen to leave.

However, the Nigeria international is set to cost over £100m.

Chelsea have made over £120m in player sales so far this summer, with the likes of Ian Maatsen, Conor Gallagher and Omari Hutchinson all leaving.

Several others have been placed in a ‘bomb squad’ and exiled from the first team.

The rejected players have been told they can only train on unused academy pitches with loan manager Carlo Cudicini.

They include Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Trevoh Chalobah.
