A ROYAL expert has opened up about what polished Princess Kate is really like behind closed doors, and what King Charles thinks about her.
Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, broadcaster Robert Jobson hailed the Princess of Wales as a “class act” and said she’s “more fun” than she appears in public.
He claimed: “The reality is I have spoken to her, I think she’s very careful with what she says to the press.
“You know, there’s, I think she’s not overly gushing.
“I think that she’s a lot more fun than the image that is presented.
“The image that’s presented is a bit of an enigma, I think, but she’s a lot more fun.
“And I think that we don’t really see it because she doesn’t really like to let her guard down.”
The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson pointed out we do see glimpses into Princess Kate’s less serious side when she’s asked to take part in sport.
He added: “She laughs a lot and I think anybody who laughs a lot is obviously somebody who’s got that sense of humour, and someone’s one with themselves, and I think she certainly is that.”
The royal expert also praised her work ethic, saying: “Someone said to me, that she’s somebody that always seems to bring her A-game to the table, and I think there’s no doubt that if she wanted to do a PHD in the subject, she could probably do it tomorrow.
“So that’s the sort of difference, she’s a class act, I think.”
Charles and Kate’s close bond
Earlier this year, Princess Kate bravely revealed she is undergoing preventative cancer treatment, just weeks after King Charles made the same admission.
The Princess of Wales and the King had a heart-to-heart at Windsor Castle hours before she made the announcement.
Robert claimed that this moment was poignant for their relationship.
He continued: “The fact she broke the news with the king beforehand was really important, you know.
“And you only have to look at the king when you see him.
“He actually adores his, he calls her his beloved daughter in law.
“He obviously adores her, because she’s somebody who’s not a she’s not somebody who’s looking to make dramas or problems.
“She’s somebody who, I think, tries to find solutions.
“And that’s quite important when we’ve had a lot of drama in the royal family quite recently.”
Beaming Kate stood next to Charles on the Buckingham Palace balcony at Trooping the Colour in June, with royal experts hailing it as a “gesture of solidarity”.
Kate’s health battle
While the Princess of Wales has stepped back from royal duties this year, we have not only seen her at Trooping the Colour but she also attended the Wimbledon Men’s Final with Princess Charlotte in July.
Kate was taken into hospital for planned abdominal surgery in January and spent 13 nights at the London Clinic before continuing her recovery at home with her family.
In March, Kate bravely released a video revealing “tests after the operation found cancer had been present” and that she had started preventative cancer treatment.
The Princess said the diagnosis had come as a “huge shock” – but vowed: “I am well and getting stronger every day”.
Princess Kate gave an update on her health last month – just hours before Trooping the Colour.

She told how her treatment is “ongoing and will be for a few more months” as she revealed she is “not out of the woods yet”.
But she told how it is a “joy” for her to still engage with school life and spend time “on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home”.
She said: “I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months.
“It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.
“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.”
Currently the Wales family are having a summer holiday break with Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and six-year-old Prince Louis.
