Portland gears up for the 30th Grand Prix 

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Portland International Raceway is hosting a historic weekend as the 2024 Grand Prix marks 30 years of professional racing. 

Fans can look forward to an exciting schedule of races now through Sunday, which includes the prized NTT INDYCAR SERIES. This features elite drivers like two-time defending champion Alex Palou, as well as INDY NXT by Firestone driver and Portland native Josh Pierson.

This Grand Prix is more than a race; it's a celebration of motorsport history and a sneak peek at future racing legends in the making. It's also the lone INDYCAR event in the Pacific Northwest.

PIR has one of the most difficult two mile, 12-turn road course, providing fans with an action-packed schedule. Highlighting the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, drivers will engage in high-speed action over 110 laps and 216.04 miles of competitive racing.

The weekend will also feature races from other categories like INDY NXT by Firestone, USF Pro 2000, USF2000, and USF Juniors—each showcasing the next generation of racing talent.
