Turkey announces equipment aid for Journalists in Afghanistan
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has announced that it has provided filming equipment and content production tools to the Ministry of Information and Culture in Herat province.
Arafat Deniz, TIKA’s coordinator in Herat, stated that these donations are aimed at “supporting journalism” in Afghanistan.
During the equipment handover ceremony, Deniz described access to news in Afghanistan as “important” and emphasized that they will continue to support journalists in the country.
According to Deniz, media outlets in Afghanistan not only provide news access but also contribute to cultural and educational fields.
The donated equipment includes cameras, drones, audio recorders, microphones, computers, and generators.
This assistance comes amid a backdrop where several media outlets in the country have ceased operations due to pressures, restrictions, and economic difficulties.
This support from TIKA highlights Turkey’s ongoing commitment to aiding Afghanistan in various sectors, including education, health, and humanitarian efforts.
By bolstering journalistic capabilities, this aid aims to strengthen the media landscape in Afghanistan, ensuring better access to information and fostering a more informed society despite the challenging conditions faced by many media organizations.
