TriMet boosts service in Clackamas County with new bus line and extended routes
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Starting Sunday, TriMet is beefing up its service in Clackamas County. The transit agency will introduce a brand new bus line, extend a popular line to Oregon City and add buses to serve more areas at more times.
Leaders from the local and county levels were out with TriMet representatives in Oregon City on Friday for a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the new services.
"Our transportation system provides access to opportunities for a better life, whether it's reliable to ride, to work to school, to county services," said TriMet Executive Director Sam Desue, Jr.
"We also understand that ridership is a key element of this and folks have to actually ride the bus to make it [profitable]," noted West Linn Interim Mayor Rory Bialostosky. "So we're going to have to all do our part to, to raise awareness and share that these new improvements are coming to our communities."
The new TriMet service updates include:
- Line 25 - Glisan/Troutdale Road: Service will extend to Reynolds High School and Mt. Hood Community College, with buses coming more often.
- Line 29 - Lake/Webster Road: Midday service will be added to make for easier access to the Clackamas County Lake Road Health Center.
- Line 34 - Linwood/River Road: Service will extend to Clackamas Heights via Holcomb Boulevard and to Clackamette Cove via Main Street.
- Line 76 - Hall/Greenburg Rd: Service will extend to the Oregon City Transit Center via Borland Road, I-205 and Willamette Falls Drive.
- Line 153 - Stafford/Salamo: A brand new line which will be the first to connect West Linn and Lake Oswego.
- Line 154 - Willamette/Clackamas Heights: This line will be discontinued and replaced with service on Lines 34, 76 and 153.
