Niskayuna BOE appoint two new principals

NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Niskayuna Central School District has two new principals, whom the Board of Education appointed in a special meeting on Thursday. As of Friday, Luke Rakoczy took over as Rosendale Elementary principal, and John Moskov is the principal at Van Antwerp.

Before his appointment to Rozendale, Rakoczy was the principal of Van Antwerp since 2005. The district said he deeply understands the greater Niskayuna community, and Rakoczy said he's excited to continue supporting students at Rosendale Elementary.

"I think the Rosendale community is going to find me a supportive, easy person to work with that really just wants to listen and learn and do the best work I can for students," Rakoczy said. "I'm looking forward to a new opportunity and a chance to learn and to join the faculty and staff at Rosendale."

Moskov is a Niskayuna alumnus and a long-time teacher in the district with a background in social-emotional learning. He said he's passionate about being there for families of the Niskayuna community.

"Being, you know, born and bred Niskayuna myself, I'm still very close to the community and still very involved in the community," Moskov said. "I'm passionate about leading through service. I'm passionate about meeting families, students and teachers needs and all of those groups will always come first before my needs."
