Match Preview: Queen’s Park v Spartans – 25 Aug 24

Queen's Park return to hosting duties as The Spartans make the trip from the capital to Ochilview Park on Sunday, with a 3pm kick-off.

Both sides are heading into the game looking for their first win of the new season. Jack Beesley’s side find themselves winless from three with defeats to Motherwell, Hearts and Partick Thistle this far. The Spiders faced off against this weekend’s opponents during their top-flight preparations. The Spartans offered up Craig Joyce’s only pre-season defeat with a 3-0 victory at Ainslie Park. The Edinburgh-based side will be looking to repeat the feat before they head into a tough home fixture as they face Glasgow City on the 1st of September.

Meanwhile, Craig Joyce as his sights on kick starting the season on Sunday. Looking ahead to the game, Joyce commented: “It’s a game we are all looking forward to. The way the games fell for us made it a very difficult opening of the season, but the positive of that is that the squad now has experience of playing against some of the best players in the league, and we will all be better for that.

There are no easy games on in this league, and Sunday will be no exception of that. Spartans are a very well established SWPL-1 side and have some great players in their side. Having played them recently during in pre-season, we need no reminder of what they bring to the party, so we know that it will be another tough test for us. That said, we will enter the game filled with confidence that we can compete with Spartans”
