Sheffield United And Stoke City Face Needing To Splash Big Cash For Target

Sheffield United and Stoke City face forking out £7m for a striker they are trying to sign as his club do not want to make a loss on him, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Chris Wilder is hoping to guide Blades to an instant return to the Premier League, while Stoke want to turn the page on what was a disastrous last season.

Both clubs feel the need to add extra firepower to the ranks in the closing stages of the summer transfer window and they are keen on a striker at a top flight club.

Leicester City’s Tom Cannon is the player both want, but they face needing to dig deep.

Cannon is available, but Leicester want a fee of £7m to let him go and are looking to sell rather than loan.

Sheffield United have been eyeing a loan and could well try their luck with a loan with an option to buy offer, while the fee is also a big one for Stoke to splash out.

It is unclear whether a loan with an option to buy would cut the mustard for Leicester.

Cannon is keen to make sure he is playing regularly this season and that looks unlikely to happen at the King Power Stadium.
