Tourists flying to Spain could face travel controls as mpox spreads

People heading on end-of-summer breaks to Spain may face controls to stop the spread of illness if new measures are introduced.

In a reminder of the days of Covid passports and QR codes, there are warnings that tourists may need to show they are free of mpox before being cleared to enter.

A Spanish politician has demanded that the government ‘take preventative measures’, especially in Madrid’s main airport Barajas.

Meanwhile, travel around the UK capital is set to be more difficult at certain stations today due to Notting Hill Carnival taking place.

Transport for London urged people travelling near west London stations in the vicinity to plan their journeys in advance as some stations could be much busier than usual.
