Southampton Loan Swoop Contains Obligation Which Could Be Triggered

Southampton have agreed that an obligation to buy in the loan of goalkeeper Justin Bijlow from Feyenoord can become active if certain conditions are met, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Saints boss Russell Martin is inside the final week of the summer transfer window and is keen to make further additions.

A deal is in place with Feyenoord to bring goalkeeper Bijlow to St Mary’s and it is an initial loan.

There will be an option to buy included in the loan agreement and it could turn into an obligation to buy.

If certain conditions, related to appearances, are met during the course of Bijlow’s loan then the move will become permanent.

The shot-stopper made 24 appearances for Feyenoord over the course of last season and kept nine clean sheets in the process.

Bijlow was part of the Netherlands’ Euro 2024 squad this summer, but did not play for the Oranje.

He will be looking to now complete the move to Southampton without an issue.
