Celebs Go Dating star claims Brit women are too prudish about sex gags and says Love Island’s Chris would be a hit in LA

CELEBS Go Dating sex expert Dr Tara believes British women are much more prude than Americans when it comes to naughty humour.

In the first episode of this year’s E4 reality series Love Island star Chris Taylor broke the ice with several beauties by dropping X-rated gags and had varying degrees of success.

Chris Taylor’s sexual jokes would be better suited to a US crowd, according to Celebs Go Dating’s Dr Tara

In one instance he joked about injecting Botox into his testicles to smooth out wrinkles – a brave choice on a first meeting.

While Dr Tara believes Chris needs to be a bit more self aware and “read the room” better, she also thinks his risqué patter wouldn’t be out of place in Los Angeles.

“I’m just gonna say it. I think perhaps a lot of British girls are not used to sex jokes,” she told The Sun in an exclusive interview.

“If you’re in LA and you start off your you’ll pick up lines at sex jokes. I think it’s like quite common, like people talk about sex all the time and openly, but I think a lot of British girls are uncomfortable with that kind of joke.

“So for him he should have read the room better. and that’s the comment we always give him, too, like ‘Chris, come on, read the room.’

“In the future episodes, you’ll see he’ll just say things that are not good for the context. And we always say, ‘just read the room like, you need to be able to be more aware of what’s going on and your dates’.”

She continued: “I think him using sex jokes in that context is probably missing the assignment, because the assignment is to get deeper, to understand people’s personality and interest by having these chats.

“We were hoping that they would ask deeper questions but Chris didn’t really get there, because he has a he has a big wall that we try to work it down. He has a big shield.”

When asked if Chris’s sexual humour and forthright nature would be a hit on the other side of the pond, Dr Tara said: “I would think so. At least, you know, in the groups of people I’ve seen in LA, like people talk about sex all the time.

“They come in and they joke about sex. It’s not a big deal, but I think British culture is a lot more proper, and that is something that needs to be adjusted. If you want to successfully date in in England, in London.”

Chris wasn’t the only star to hide behind rude jokes in the first episode.

Ella Morgan, Helen Flanagan and Stephen Webb all used humour and eyebrow-raising quips to establish connections.

On multiple occasions Helen joked about her “sweaty boobs”, while trans star Ella made reference to her chest and vagina without being prompted.

Addressing Helen’s behaviour, Tara said: “You know watching it through, and kind of analysing her situation, now that I know so much more about her right after three months of working together. I think it was her deflection, strategy.

“I think it was her dating apprehension. That caused her to use deflect like sexual communication as deflecting strategy. I think this is such a common phenomenon for a lot of young women around the world to use sexual communication to deflect from having to go deeper. But you’ll see later on that she does go deeper.”

Tara believes Ella’s racy antics were a tactic to affirm her identity as a woman, which tallied with her joy and surprise that the straight men she chatted to weren’t fazed by the fact she is a trans woman.

She said: “I think for her, in that particular situation, she was the only trans person. There were two other cis female women and, for her, I think it’s just to affirm that people are interested interested in her, despite her sexual identity.”
