Shahid Afridi attacked PCB for Pakistan’s Loss against Bangladesh
Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi attacked the Pakistan Cricket Board for featuring four pacers in their squad against Bangladesh in the first test match in Rawalpindi. With this win against Shan Masood and Co., Bangladesh secured their first-ever Test win against Pakistan. Shahid Afridi stated that these types of pitches clearly indicates lack of awareness.
Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets and made their maiden win against the nation.
Pakistan were playing with four pace bowlers and they even took out their spin bowler Abrar Ahmed saying that the pitch of Rawalpindi would help the pacers, which came out wrong as Pakistan was out on just 146 runs.
following the 10-wicket loss, skipper Shan Masood also added that it was a bad idea to go without a special spinner.
“We had anticipated the pitch to offer more assistance to the seamers. Looking at the pitch, we expected it to do more,” he said.
“If we played 3 fast bowlers, we would be pushing them to the limit and the spinner would be bowling 25-30 overs a day, which we wanted to avoid.”
“We thought that with the weather, it may not even last the full 5 days. At the end of the day, we got it wrong,” he said.
