Ben Shephard, 49, replaced longtime host Phillip Schofield after he quit ITV following his admission of having a consensual affair with a younger male colleague.

Meanwhile, Holly Willoughby also stepped away from This Morning after 14 years following the news that she was the victim of a foiled kidnap plot.

Cat was simultaneously announced to step into her shoes as she fronts the show with Ben.

Now the pair have reflected about their first days on the flagship daytime programme.

She told the Mail Online: “I actually can’t believe it’s been nearly six months. I mean, I know we started in March, but that was a bit of a blur.”

Turning to her co-host, Cat remarked: “I’d just come back from the States and we had seen each other over a zoom call, but we hadn’t really done much else before we started had we?”

This is when Ben made a candid revelation at his own early days on the show, saying that he was on a night out before his rehearsals.

He admitted: “We came in one Sunday morning and I had been out the Saturday night before and only had about three hours sleep!”

According to the outlet however, the former SMTV live presenter was shocked, and she couldn’t tell.

“Well you certainly didn’t tell me that on the day!”, she exclaimed.

That’s not all, because Ben revealed that he was on his best behaviour because of other pre-recorded commitments in preparation for his debut on the show.

The longtime breakfast TV host revealed: “I was being very well behaved and I then had to go to West Ham to do some filming for the show too!”

But Cat carried on her remarks about her first six months as the replacement for Holly, who left the show after 14 years on the air.

“It was just really a surreal period that we’d been talking about and building up to, and then we just started,” she remembered.

I had been out the Saturday night before and only had about three hours sleep!

“It does feel like it’s flown by so fast. Mainly because there is so much content in every single show.”

Adding: “Some [Days] are like a roller coaster!

“Earlier this year I remember we went from Rishi Sunak, to the cast of Chorus Line, interiors with Kelly Hoppen, singer Natalie Imbruglia and Toadie from Neighbours.

And Cat definitely loves all the variety on the long-running ITV magazine show, as she thinks it is a new experience for her.

“It has definitely been a learning experience because I haven’t done a show that’s similar to this really,” the star admitted.

“I’ve done more kinds of entertainment, shiny floor shows. And they’ve never been on a daily basis and not been full of different topics and subjects like this.”

She added: “I’ve done a lot of live TV, but with This Morning I’ve had to get used to the roller coaster a little bit.”
