Condition of girl in pool incident improves
The 10-year-old British girl who had been found unconscious at a hotel swimming pool is off the ventilator and her condition has improved, police said on Monday.
She had been found on Saturday afternoon at the Paralimni hotel pool where she was on vacation with her family.
The young girl was transferred first to Famagusta general hospital and then to Makario hospital. She had been intubated and was in critical condition until Sunday.
Famagusta police spokesman Steve Theodoulou said her condition has since greatly improved.
“She is off the ventilator, is awake and her condition has improved, according to her doctors.”
Meanwhile police are still investigating the matter and taking statements from people who were at the hotel pool and saw what happened, Theodoulou said.
Officers are also taking statements from hotel staff and medical personnel from Famagusta general hospital so as to establish the conditions under which the 10-year-old girl was found unconscious in the pool.
