Monday gorgeous in Oregon, summer returns Thursday

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — We have another gorgeous day on tap as we start the new week.

Monday's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies up and down the I-5 corridor with daytime highs reaching the mid 80s for the Willamette Valley and upper 60s for much of the coast.

We will have a few small changes to our pleasant weather come early Tuesday morning, as an upper-level trough swings through the PNW.

The Portland metro area and Southwest Washington could see a few rain drops in our overnight hours and early morning hours on Tuesday. The short-lived and light spotty showers look to start after 11 p.m. Monday and last through about 5 to 6 a.m. Tuesday. Most of the spotty rain showers will stay put over the northern portion of the Oregon Coast. So, you can expect mainly dry conditions for Portland metro as we miss much of the light rain with this new system.

Afternoon temps are expected to land in the mid 70s tomorrow, and much of our region will also see breezy conditions. The Dalles could see wind gusts out of the west up to 50 mph. Our overnight lows in the metro area will also fall to the low 50s as we head into Wednesday morning.

We'll go from Tuesday's mild temperatures to a ridge of high pressure bringing the summer vibes back to PDX. The metro area is expected to hover right around 90 degrees from Thursday to Saturday.

The warmer trend comes just in time for Labor Day weekend.
