NHRC seeks reports from govts on development of forest villages

The NHRC instructed the Centre and Odisha government to report on action taken regarding the lack of facilities in 4,526 forest villages across India, including Odisha. The issue was raised by activist Radhakanta Tripathy, who highlighted the absence of basic amenities in these villages, affecting sectors like healthcare and education. The authorities were given eight weeks to respond.
