Asif Durrani discusses Afghanistan with UNAMA deputy

Asif Durrani, Pakistan’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, has reported meeting with Indrika Ratwatte, Deputy Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

In a social media post, Durrani mentioned their discussion covered various Afghanistan-related topics. He highlighted their focus on humanitarian issues in the country and the international community’s response.

Previously, Filippo Grandi, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, visited Pakistan to discuss the situation of Afghan refugees with Pakistani officials.

Pakistan has implemented several phases of mass expulsions of Afghan migrants over the past three years, resulting in unprecedented displacement around the Durand Line and increasing the need for humanitarian aid on both sides of the border.

This escalating crisis emphasizes the importance of coordinated international efforts to address the immediate and long-term needs of displaced Afghan migrants.

It also highlights the need for effective strategies to manage migration flows and support affected populations. Moving forward, sustained diplomatic engagement and humanitarian assistance will be crucial in mitigating the impact of these displacements and ensuring the well-being of all those affected.
