The One Show in particular has been hit, with insecticide being sprayed at its studios in New Broadcasting House, central London.

The news comes after it emerged EastEnders studios in Elstree, Herts, had been plagued by rats.

The latest infestation has seen 20 Rentokil call-outs to the London HQ in the 18 months up to June 2024.

Most focused on The One Show, where problem areas included the green room, where celebrities such as Tom Jones and Channing Tatum wait before going on screen.

An update in July 2023 reported: “ONE SHOW AGAIN. Today’s visit on site was to conduct an insecticidal spray treatment for cockroach activity.

“A treatment was conducted in the following areas: Men’s toilet, ladies toilets, men’s service partner toilets, women’s service partner toilet, green room corridor and makeup room.”

But a log from January said: “Reports of cockroach activity in the locker room [and] One Show corridor remains persistent.”

A BBC spokesperson, said: “Like other responsible organisations, we have an effective and proactive pest control policy in place across all our sites.

“On the rare occasion we receive a report of an unwelcome visitor in one of our buildings, we always take swift action to call in the experts who take care of the issue.”
