JuJu Smith-Schuster re-signs with Kansas City Chiefs from Patriots

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- JuJu Smith-Schuster is headed back to Kansas City.

After being released from a three-year contract with the New England Patriots, Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network confirmed Monday morning that the 27-year-old wide receiver had re-signed with the Chiefs.

In Smith-Schuster's last season with the Chiefs back in 2022, he led the team's wide receivers with 933 yards on 78 catches and three touchdowns. And in his three playoff games, he had 10 receptions for 89 yards.

However, in the following year with the Patriots, Smith-Schuster faced many struggles and injuries. This led to an 11-game season of 260 yards on 29 passes and a single touchdown.

According to the NFL, several unprecedented factors in the Chiefs' preseason and offseason may have contributed to this addition, including Hollywood Brown's shoulder injury and Rashee Rice's ongoing lawsuit in the six-car, Dallas crash this past March.

Whether Smith-Schuster's spot on the team will affect who makes the squad this season is still unknown. However, the NFL said the new addition could determine if players like Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney or Justyn Ross take to the field.
