“Will definitely go…”: Kuldeep Yadav on travelling to Pakistan for Champions Trophy

Team India’s participation in the ICC Champions Trophy that is set to take place in Pakistan next year is still quite doubtful. A total of 8 teams are scheduled to take part in the Champions Trophy but BCCI is yet to provide their consent.

The Board has made it clear on multiple occasions that it will be the External Affairs Ministry who will take the final call on whether the Indian team will visit Pakistan for the tournament.

The Men in Blue haven’t visited Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup while the Men in Green last toured India in 2012-13 for a bilateral series. However, both teams faced each other several times in various ICC tournaments including the recently held T20 World Cup 2024.

Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav recently was asked on India’s chances of visiting Pakistan for the Champions Trophy and he said that he would love to play in the neighbouring country if the Indian government provides the necessary permission.

“As cricketers, we will play wherever we are sent. I have never been to Pakistan before, so I am excited. The Pakistani people are great, and whenever we get the chance, we will definitely go and play there,” Kuldeep said in an event in Australia.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly already submitted a proposal to the ICC for the Champions Trophy. Three venues namely, Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore will host all the matches and all of India’s games will be staged in Lahore due to security reasons.
