Crime, health-worker safety and a self-examination

The case of the brutal attack on and the murder of a woman doctor in Kolkata has highlighted the range of aggressive behaviours and violence that women face. Five articles, on the Editorial/Opinion pages, that look at the issues of safety and spaces for women, and the adequacy of societal responses and the justice system. Emerging answers to the issue of health-worker safety continue to remain reflexive and simplistic, and could reflect an incomplete understanding of the malady beneath
