Bruce Springsteen Responds to Retirement & Farewell Tour Rumors

Bruce Springsteen is addressing the rumors about his future.

On Friday night (August 23), the 74-year-old rockstar hit the stage at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Penn. with the E Street Band where he shut down rumors that he’s planning on retiring soon and doing a farewell tour, telling crowd that he and the band have “been around for 50 f–king years.”

Keep reading to find out more…“We ain’t doing no farewell tour bulls–t,” Bruce said in a video shared on X. “Jesus Christ. No farewell tour for the E Street Band!”

“Hell no… Farewell to what? Thousands of people screaming your name? Yeah, I wanna quit that,” Bruce reiterated. “That’s it. That’s all it takes. I ain’t goin’ anywhere.”

Guitarist Steven Van Zandt also shut down retirement rumors in a conversation with The Telegraph last month, saying that he has no plans on stepping away from the E Street Band.

“I don’t see the end anywhere in sight, to be honest, especially in Europe, where we’re bigger than we’ve ever been,” Steven, 73, said. “I think we can play every summer for evermore, man.”

Rumors of Bruce‘s retirement started last year when he had to postpone several concerts due to health issues.
