Two people taken into custody after shooting in Oakland’s Redwood Heights neighborhood

OAKLAND — Police took two people into custody early Friday evening after a person was shot in Oakland’s Redwood Heights neighborhood.

Officers were called to the shooting at about 5:45 p.m. Friday, after a person was shot on the 4200 block of Masterson Street, near MacArthur Boulevard and the Laurel commercial district, according to the Oakland Police Department. Paramedics took a man to a nearby hospital, and he is expected to survive.

The circumstances of the shooting remained unclear Monday afternoon, and police haven’t released a motive. Details of the people taken into custody also were not released.
