Queen Elizabeth II passed away two years ago, but royal fans are still learning about certain aspects of her personal life, particularly her thoughts on Donald and Melania Trump. An upcoming book, Q: A Voyage Around the Queen by Craig Brown, won’t be out until Oct. 1, but it offers new insight into the late monarch’s questions about the former president’s marriage.

In an excerpt obtained by the Daily Mail, Brown revealed that Queen Elizabeth found Donald Trump “very rude.” The author wrote, “She particularly disliked the way he couldn’t stop looking over her shoulder, as though in search of others more interesting.” While his personality was one issue, she also questioned his marriage to Melania because they didn’t appear to like each other very much. Brown added, “She also believed President Trump ‘must have some sort of arrangement’ with his wife Melania, or else why would she have remained married to him?”

The late queen’s curiosity about Donald Trump’s marriage to Melania isn’t surprising given the fact that their union is often questioned in the U.S. Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Melania’s former BFF, shared her thoughts with The Washington Post in November 2023 where she claimed that “no amount of scrutiny, no amount of cheating, lying, stealing, you name it, will change” Melania’s mind about her husband. “She has stood by him and will continue to stand by him because she is just like him,” Wolkoff continued. “It’s a completely transactional marriage for both. She knew exactly who she married and warned him that all his secrets would come out if he ran for president.”

The reported news that Queen Elizabeth didn’t particularly like Donald Trump hurt his feelings because he shot back over the dig at a campaign stop in Asheboro, North Carolina on Aug. 21. “It was totally false. I have no idea who the writer is, but it was really just the opposite,” Donald Trump said, per The Daily Beast. “I had a great relationship with the queen. She liked me and I liked her.” He also made an unverifiable claim to the Daily Mail after they published the excerpt from Brown’s book.

“She said to friends of mine that, ‘President Trump was my favorite president.’ And then you have this guy looking for some publicity for a book that probably is phony, and a lot of other ways too,” he said. “We had an unbelievable relationship. She was an amazing woman.” We may never know the truth about Queen Elizabeth and Donald Trump’s friendship, but the former president is going to fight against any reports that don’t make them sound like BFFs.
