Victim's mother speaks out after man accused of videotaping teen in shower

ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- A 40-year-old man is accused of videotaping a 15-year-old female relative in the shower. The girl's mother speaks out, saying she is heartbroken and frustrated that her daughter experienced the traumatizing situation.

"It's one of those things that I was not able to protect my daughter [from]," the mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, said of her frustration.

"That's something that I have to live with for the rest of my life and she has to live with what happened for the rest of her life," the mother continued.

Quintin Guillot was arrested in July by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office on a charge of video voyerism, according to a social media post made by the sheriff's office.

The mother said Guillot was released from custody after he posted bail.

"It's even harder knowing that as of right now, there has been no repercussions for what he has done," the mother said.

The mother said she hopes that the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office can be swift in their investigation and find justice for her daughter, as she and her daughter are having a hard time coping with what going on.

"That's a hard thing. When you're having to teach a child how to process stuff like this because someone was sick enough to prey on them," the mother said.

The mother said she wants parents to be aware of the people that are around their children, because things like this could happen with family members, like hers.

"Check everything. Go in the bathroom, check. See if there is something out of place," the mother said.
