Woman arrested, charged with murder in east Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A 34-year-old woman has been arrested more than two weeks after the shooting death of a man in east Columbus.
Columbus police said that Brittney McBride was arrested Monday and charged with murder in the death of 36-year-old Dajuan Rios on Aug. 4. McBride's first court date is unknown at this time.
On Aug. 3, police went to the 800 block of Murray Avenue just before 11:30 p.m. after reports of a shooting. Rios was found on the property's front yard with a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 3:21 a.m.
McBride was identified as the suspect and has three previous criminal charges, according to Franklin County Municipal Court records. She was charged with felonious assault in 2023, assault and domestic violence in 2020, and theft in 2008.
