Market season begins: watch out for these three
As we bid farewell to the summer season – though in Cyprus, summer seems to linger year-round – a type of event typically favoured in autumn and spring is making its return. It is almost time for markets and pop-up bazaars to make their comeback and September has three in store.
Approaching very soon, this Sunday is the Cyberness Market at Kolla in Limassol. From 5pm to 11pm, the large space of Kolla will transform into a futuristic art venue featuring music, DJs, projections and installations and of course, local shops, creatives and brands. Apart from art to browse and bites to devour, a series of artists will perform live throughout the event. And that’s not all, the Cyberness Market plans on repeating every first Sunday of the month.
Then, on September 20, 21 and 22, the 7th Handmade in Cyprus Market will bring together over 30 artists per day at the Strovolos Cultural Center in Nicosia. Exclusively featuring local artists from all industries who make art locally and by hand, the market is a big get-together for the island’s creative community. Food and dessert stalls, a cocktail bar and organised arts and crafts for children and adults will operate as well throughout the event, making this a three-day market for all.
Towards the end of the month, a market lasting even longer will take place in Nicosia’s old town. The SecondLife Wardrobe Gala & Pop-Up Bazaar at Yfantourgeio-The Workplace will be a four-day affair gathering second-hand boutiques, online shops, fashionistas, artists and crafters. From September 28 to October 1, the venue will fill with vintage clothes, antique items and accessories, while DJs play funky music and food stalls serve bites. The event will even feature tattoo artists for daredevils ready to get inked or book an appointment.
Plenty of art-filled fun awaits, highlighting the creative forces of the island and as autumn approaches more bazaars are expected to pop up. Let the market season begin!
