Melania Trump mocked for apparently copying Chanel book cover for her memoir

Melania Trump drew scorn for the cover art for her forthcoming memoir because it bears a striking resemblance to another book.

The former first lady's tell-all Melania shows only her first name in white text on an all-black background — a design that is remarkably similar to the 2020 book Chanel Catwalk by the French author Patrick Mauriès, which compiles every collection for the brand created by the late fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, reported The Daily Beast.

“If you love our former first lady as much as me, and are ready for the Truth, buy her new book now!” Trump wrote over the weekend. “MELANIA provides an insightful perspective of her tenure as First Lady of the United States, highlighting our shared experiences, her entrepreneurial achievements, plus the challenges and triumphs she experienced since her childhood in Europe.”

But many others noticed how closely the cover resembled the other book that the fashion-conscious Melania Trump quite likely has seen, and the instance brought to mind criticism that she reportedly plagiarized extensive portions from her 2016 speech at the Republican National Convention from an address that Michelle Obama had given at an earlier Democratic National Convention.

"If you were wondering who Melania's book was going to copy from, here you go. She's decided to rip-off Chanel," said X user Sarah Glazer.

"Imagine that the lady who was furious she didn't get a Vogue cover as First Lady has a memoir with no photo of her on the cover like in every other memoir in history," added journalist Victoria Brownworth. "It's a low-budget right-wing publisher, but still -- couldn't Trump have sprung for a photo cover for his 3rd wife?"

Other social media users noticed that promotional graphics for the book resembled the cover for A Book About Absolutely Nothing, a novelty book infamously filled with blank pages.

"Did you ever see the blank book with the title A Book About Absolutely Nothing?" said the X account Common Sense. "Did it inspire Melania’s book cover artist? You be the judge. This is the cover of the blank book."
