On an OLED TV, unused pixels can be turned off, so you can have a pitch-black pixel right next to a bright white one, resulting in an image with exceptionally high levels of contrast and clarity. Unfortunately, 4K OLED TVs are often very expensive, and finding one for less than $1,000 is difficult.

When choosing a 4K TV, you shouldn’t automatically pick the biggest one you can afford. You may find that you have a better viewing experience on a 50-inch TV with a better lighting system than on a 65-inch model that’s edge-lit.
