Surprising use for Adele’s £100m purpose-built Munich residency venue after Saturday’s final show revealed

IT cost £100million to plan and put up, and Adele’s purpose-built venue for her European residency won’t be disappearing when she completes her final show on Saturday.

I’ve learned that the huge, 74,000 capacity structure in Munich, Germany, is set to become the world’s first portable stadium.

Organisers who developed it for the superstar’s concerts want it to be used over and over again in locations across the world.

I’m told the scheme was inspired by ABBA, whose ABBA Arena in East London — built for their digital concert residency — was designed to be easily moved elsewhere.

A music insider said: “It would have been a catastrophic loss of money for an entire stadium to be built only for these ten Adele shows, even though the tickets aren’t cheap. But a load of different superstars, such as Beyonce or Taylor Swift, could use the venue in years to come.

“Obviously it’s been built around Adele, so the dream would be for her to use it in other places, but she is eager to have a break. It only took a few weeks to construct it, so it wouldn’t be hard to take it down and put it up again in an entirely different city.

“There is scope to do more impressive staging when it is in one place, rather than kit being moved in and out of stadiums in different cities each night.”

There is plenty of demand from artists to focus on residencies so they can stay in one place for a longer period.

That means they aren’t forced to uproot their families while they remain on the road.

In that respect, I’m sure it will be a major draw, although not many stars could sell out a place that big, night after night.

The Rolling In The Deep singer also constructed “Adele World”, featuring bars, restaurants and shops based on her life.

My insider added: “Things like Adele World make concerts more of an experience. It’s special and exciting for fans.”

After Adele’s final show in Munich this week she will return to the US to complete her Weekends With Adele residency in Las Vegas.

That will end on November 23, then I’m expecting radio silence.

She said on German TV last month: “My tank is quite empty at the minute. I don’t have any plans for new music. I want a big break after all this and I want to do other creative things for a little while.”

Put your feet up Adele, you’ve earned it.

Leigh at Carnival

LEIGH-ANNE PINNOCK wore this dress inspired by the flag of Jamaica to get in the party spirit at the Notting Hill Carnival in West London with her footballer husband Andre Gray.

But she was back to reality yesterday with a TikTok rant about comparisons to her former Little Mix bandmates Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards.

She said: “With social media . . . If it’s making you feel a certain way, just put the phone down.”

Good advice.

Sabrina’s Sweet on No1 spot

SABRINA CARPENTER is on course to score the second fastest selling album of 2024 this Friday.

The Espresso singer sold 69,698 copies of her new album Short N’ Sweet in its first four days on sale, from Friday to Monday, new figures showed yesterday.

That’s a remarkable turnaround for the American star, who has previously released five other records.

None of those even entered the Top 100, apart from 2022’s Emails I Can’t Send which peaked at No41.

It is the highest single week sales since Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department was released in April.

If it wasn’t for Sabrina, Irish band Fontaines D.C. would be on course for the top spot, as their new album Romance has so far sold 31,444 copies.

In even better news for her, she is set to do the chart double as latest single Taste is on course to go to No1 on the singles chart — her third song to do so this year.

There’s no stopping her.

Charli’s Big Apple bobbing

CHARLI XCX has done everything but tank this year, yet that didn’t stop her jumping into one.

While under the water she held an apple – in reference to her song of the same name – for top snapper David LaChapelle

In the shoot, for New York magazine, inset left, she also posed strangely on a stretcher while missing a hand.

Charli revealed she has been in the studio with Bon Iver and Haim singer Danielle and teased more collaborations are on the way.

She said: “Random artists are calling. I can’t say who, but people I greatly respect. It’s like being the new kid in school who people are fascinated by.”

Even Taylor Swift is a big fan.

She said: “She just takes a song to places you wouldn’t expect it to go, and she’s been doing it consistently for over a decade. I love to see hard work like that pay off.”

Travis on a high

TRAVIS KELCE’s romance with Taylor Swift is paying dividends.

The American football player and his brother Jason, an ex player, have signed a £75million deal for their hit podcast New Heights – after Travis used it to wax lyrical about their romance.

They launched in 2022 and have secured a three-year agreement with Amazon’s Wondery.

I’ve no doubt that millions of fans of the singing superstar listen week-in, week-out for any tidbits about Taylor and couldn’t care less about American football.

So I’m sure Wondery will be keeping its fingers crossed that she stays with Travis for the long haul.

The brothers said: “We couldn’t be more excited to team up with Wondery.

“We love this show and the fanbase that has grown with us over the last two seasons.

“Wondery understands the shared vision and will offer a wealth of experience and resources to take us to New Heights. We are going to create some groundbreaking moments together through this partnership. We are thrilled to start season three.”

That’s all good but they need to listen to my advice . . .
