Harris, Trump lay out plans for the economy

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) - The conventions for both political parties are over, and the two presidential candidates are sprinting to November 5th.

The Harris campaign is spending $150 million on ads in swing states highlighting the vice president's plan to bring down the cost of housing.

Former president Donald Trump says part of his plan is to lower the cost of housing and stop illegal immigration.

In battleground Michigan, Senator JD Vance (r-Ohio.), tried to pin inflation on Vice President Kamala Harris.

“She cast the tie breaking vote for the inflation explosion act. What she has done has been a disaster,” said Vance.

Vance says Harris is responsible for higher gas and grocery prices.

“On her watch gas prices are up 50%, housing costs have doubled, young people cannot afford to buy a home in their own country,” he said.

In a minute long ad targeting swing state, the Harris campaign fought back on the cost of housing.

The Harris plan includes $25,000 in down payment assistance to first time home buyers and building three million new homes over four years.

A new forecast, from The Hill and Decision Desk HQ, shows Vice President Harris is now favored in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The campaigns are essentially tied in Arizona.  Former president Donald Trump is favored in Georgia and North Carolina.  Harris has an edge in Nevada.

The Harris campaign says its planning events talking about the price of housing in several swing states.
