Trump campaign vehemently denies altercation with Arlington National Cemetery official

A spokesman for Donald Trump's campaign vehemently denied a report that two staffers got into a physical altercation with an official at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, despite the cemetery confirming there was an incident — and a report was filed.

NPR reported, citing a source with knowledge of the incident, that two campaign staffers got into a verbal and physical altercation with an official who tried to prevent campaign staffers from entering a specific section of the cemetery. Trump was there as part of a wreath-laying ceremony.

Campaign spokesman Steven Cheung, known for his often fiery statements, vehemently denied there was any such altercation and told NPR in a statement: "We are prepared to release footage if such defamatory claims are made."

"The fact is that a private photographer was permitted on the premises and for whatever reason an unnamed individual, clearly suffering from a mental health episode, decided to physically block members of President Trump's team during a very solemn ceremony," Cheung said, according to the outlet.

Despite Cheung's full-throated denial, the cemetery told NPR in a statement there was an incident and a report was filed. It said political campaigns are banned under federal law from election-related activities while in Army National Military Cemeteries.
