Disney’s next game launches free way to play on all platforms a month before launch

IN recent years, more and more developers are offering people a chance to play their games early.

Demos fell out of favour with gaming companies for a long time, and it was difficult to try games before you bought them.

Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a ground-up remake

Given how expensive games are these days, with many selling for £70/$70 this put many people off pre-ordering a game before they knew if it was any good.

Luckily demos have become popular again, and many companies now offer people the chance to play the first part of their games for free.

The most recent game to get a free demo is Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, a remake of the popular Disney 3D platformer.

Epic Mickey was originally released in 2010 for the Nintendo Wii, so this is the first time that many people will have the chance to play it.

This isn’t a simple remaster. Instead developer Purple Lamp has built the game from the ground up.

Aside from redesigning it for modern controllers, rather than the Wiimote’s motion controls, the whole game has seen a huge graphical upgrade.

The story and gameplay will mostly be the same, but the team has it running at 60fps with 4k resolution.

For Nintendo Switch and PS5 players, they’ll be able to use their controllers’ gyroscopic controls to mimic the motion controls of the original game.

Purple Lamp has also added a photo mode, so people can share images from the game with others.

The demo for Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is out now and available for players on all platforms.

This means you can pick it up for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

If you want to try the game for yourself, all you need to do is search for Epic Mickey: Rebrushed on your platform’s store.

For consoles, you can do this either directly via your system or from your computer or companion phone app for PS and Xbox.

Just make sure that you select the demo rather than the pre-order button on these store pages, and it should give you the option to download it right away.

You’ll then be able to play the first part of the game, no purchases necessary.

Epic Mickey: Rebrushed launches on all of the consoles mentioned above on September 24, 2024.
