Memories of Famagusta brought to life
As the events marking the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion continue, an upcoming concert in Larnaca brings together renowned singers from Cyprus and Greece. The Memories of Famagusta – 50 Years of Nostalgia concert, organised by the Nea Salamina Famagusta Club, will take place at the Patticheio Amphitheatre on September 6, aiming to revive memories of Famagusta and the desire to return there one day, through the power of music.
Performing will be the renowned Mikis Theodorakis Folk Orchestra, acclaimed artists from Greece Glykeria and Kostas Makedonas, Cypriot Freideriki Toumbazou as well as other selected singers from Varosha.
The event will also include narration, a short theatrical performance, a photography exhibition and poetry recitations, connecting the audience with the history and cultural heritage of Famagusta. This event is not merely a celebration but an opportunity for reflection and contemplation. Its purpose is to honour those lost during the coup and the invasion while keeping the hope of returning to the city alive.
