What is the donation option on Topeka water utility bills?

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The City of Topeka is asking locals to consider signing on to its WaterShare program to help out their neighbors.

Topekans getting their utility bill this month may see an option to sign on to the WaterShare program and help others in the city pay off their water utility bills in times of need, according to a recent social media post from the city. The program is funded completely through generous donations and even $1 can go towards helping someone in need.

The City of Topeka partners with Doorstep, Let's Help and the Salvation Army to distribute funds and select eligible recipients for the program. Each donation is clearly marked as a charitable contribution on Topekan's utility bills. Those who want to apply for help can reach out to any of the organizations listed above for assistance.

People who sign up for the WaterShare program can add an automatic amount of their choosing to go to charity and help out those who are less fortunate, according to the City of Topeka's website. You can sign up to contribute by calling 785-368-3111 or by completing forms online. Learn more about the program and how to sign up by clicking here.
