Crocs Is Launching Horror Movie-Themed Shoes for Friday the 13th
The impending end of summer means Halloween is just around the corner and ahead of the spooky holiday, Crocs is readying a three-pack of shoes tied to some of the most iconic antagonists in horror movie history.
Set for a timely launch on September 13 — which this year falls on Friday the 13th — is a Crocs All-Terrain Clogs pack highlighting the films “Friday the 13th,” “Nightmare on Elm Street” and “It.” More specifically, the styles are inspired by the terrifying villains of each movie: Jason Voorhees from “Friday the 13th,” Freddy Krueger from “Nightmare on Elm Street” and Pennywise from “It.”
As Crocs often does with licensed collaborations, the footwear company left no stone unturned when it came to decking the pairs out in chilling details.
The Jason Voorhees-inspired style adopts the slasher’s distressed garb with splatters throughout and Jibbitz referencing his hockey mask, knives and the fictional setting of the film, Camp Crystal Lake. Freddy Krueger’s pair dons the red-and-green stripes of his knit sweater, blood-like splatters and Jibbitz including his claws and fedora hat. Lastly, the Pennywise pair, which is connected to “It Chapter Two,” includes the character’s haunting face obscured in blood streaks and a clown nose accessory on the heel strap.
Crocs Inc. has been in the news recently not only for its Clog collabs, but also due the latest pivots at subsidiary Hey Dude. In April, Hey Dude tapped former Crocs and Stanley exec Terence Reilly as president. On August 21, it named actress Sydney Sweeney as a global spokesperson.
Although Crocs has yet to formally announce the collection, the three-shoe set has been advertised on retailer Champs Sports for a September 13 launch. The trio’s official nickname has not been announced, but some social media accounts are dubbing it the “Horror Movie Pack,” “Scary Movie Pack” and “Nightmare Pack.” Each pair retails for $75.
