Sixth arrest for assault in Protaras

Police have arrested a sixth suspect in the context of ongoing investigations into the assault and serious injuring of a 17-year-old on August 24 in Protaras.

The sixth person, a 17-year-old, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon and will be taken before a court on Thursday for a remand order.

Five other people are already in custody for the same case.

Three, aged 17, 18 and 19, were arrested on August 25 and two others, aged 17 and 18, were arrested on August 27.

The 17-year-old was attacked on August 24 at 2am by a group of people and suffered injuries to his face.

He was taken by ambulance to the Famagusta general hospital and discharged on Tuesday.

Famagusta police are investigating the case.
