Paralympics 2024 LIVE: Latest results from Paris as Britain goes for gold on day 1

The 2024 Paris Paralympics have officially begun, and today’s action is packed with medal chances in para swimming and para cycling.

Over 4,400 incredible athletes from around the world will compete across 22 sports.

Last night’s dazzling opening ceremony set the tone, with dancers using crutches to symbolise triumph over physical challenges. Tennis champ Lucy Shuker and basketball’s Terry Bywater were Team GB flagbearers.

Team GB enters the competition with high hopes after their stellar performance at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Games, where they bagged 124 medals—41 of them gold—finishing second behind China in the overall standings.
