‘What in the Dolly Parton?’ trolls ask as made-up traveller poses with bridesmaids & background has everyone talking
A TRAVELLER bride has caught the attention of online trolls, after posing for wedding photos along with her bridesmaids.
Gypsy weddings are known to be extravagant affairs, as is well documented in the hit TV show, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.
And one bride in particular, has caught the attention of social media users.
Posting on TikTok, makeup artists Gabriella and Olivia (@makeupbygolondon) proudly showed off the looks they had done for a young traveller bride and her bridesmaids.
The bride wore an enormous puffy white princess dress, like the one worn by Cinderella in the Disney classic, and had a large diamond encrusted crown on her head, making her look like a snow princess.
In her hands, was an enormous bouquet of stunning white roses and on her shoulders she wore a transparent lace shawl.
Her blonde locks were placed in an elaborate updo, and she had thick layers of makeup caked onto her face.
Holding up the brides incredibly long train were five bridesmaids, wearing matching white mini dresses, and sporting a beehive hairstyle.
The girls beamed at the camera as they held tiny bouquets, which matched the white flowers pinned to their hair.
The video has been viewed over 1.6 million times, and has hundreds of comments.
Many cruel trolls commented on the girl’s appearances.
One person said: “What in the Dolly Parton is going on here?”
Likening their style to that of TLC child pageant show Toddlers And Tiaras, another person added: “They’re all gorgeous but it’s giving Toddlers and Tiaras.”
Another troll asked: “Is this a joke?”
A fourth added: “Ridiculous is the word that comes to mind.”
Traditions in the gypsy/traveller communities
Nomadic lifestyle: Traditionally, many travellers maintain a nomadic lifestyle, living in caravans and moving frequently. This mobility is a core aspect of their identity, reflecting a deep connection to freedom and independence.
Strong family bonds: Family is central to traveller culture. Extended families often live and travel together, providing a strong support network. Marriages and social events are significant community affairs, reinforcing familial ties.
Distinct Language: Many travellers speak Shelta, also known as Cant or Gammon, a distinct language that mixes elements of Irish, English, and other languages. This language serves as a cultural marker and a means of private communication within the community.
Religious practices: The traveller community often follows Roman Catholicism, with religious festivals and milestones like baptisms, communions, and weddings being particularly significant. However, individual beliefs and practices can vary widely.
Unique celebrations: Events such as horse fairs and traditional weddings are major social gatherings for travellers. These occasions are marked by elaborate preparations, vibrant attire, and communal participation.
Others took issue with the fact that the background to the photo was the sign for the Hilton DoubleTree hotel.
One person said: “DoubleTree by Hilton just in the back of all the photos!”
Another person said: “I’m sorry but I laughed at DoubleTree.
“That’s like a Dollar Tree sign in the back. No offense.”
However, many wishes to compliment the girls on their look.
One person said: “Just stunning and gorgeous.”
Another person said: “Like a princess.”
