Shadow theatre coming to the village

A special kind of shadow theatre performance will be held in Kato Moni this Friday, bringing the spotlight on a favourite character – Karagiozis. The Treasure Hunt performance is a shadow theatre show with a twist. It will feature the popular character of Karagiozis and his usual co-stars but in a more contemporary approach, along with the nature and animals of Cyprus.

The play, set to begin at 8pm, will present the characters, animals and natural world living together in harmony. Exploring the concept of wealth from different perspectives, the performance emphasises the importance of harmony in life and solidarity and of keeping the environment and the natural world clean.

The team behind the play is comprised of İzel Seylani, the director, writer and performer, Vasilis Paphitis who will perform live, translator Christos Nikolaou, set designer Thelma Kasoulidou, musician Savvas Chrysostomou and songwriter Stavros Stavrou.

Throughout the play, Karagiozis follows the directions of a map where he expects to find hidden treasure. However, he discovers a fountain that temporarily transforms him into a form that allows him to communicate with animals. An adventure ensues in the Rizokarpaso National Park in Cyprus, captivating the audience with interactive songs and enjoyable moments.
