Terry’s to release new chocolate orange flavour – but there’s a twist that has left fans outraged

SWEET giant Terry’s has outraged fans by launching a plain version of its beloved chocolate orange.

With 44million of its citrus treats sold each year, Terry’s has now revealed a ball without the signature flavour.

Last year the confectionery company broadened its range with a mint edition, which proved so popular it sold out mid-season.

The Chocolate Milk Ball will still have segments, but fans are less enthused about the addition due to hit shelves in October.

Chocolate expert Jennifer Earle told The Sun: “Terry’s Chocolate Orange is a classic, so launching a version without the orange is a bit ridiculous.

“People are quite particular about the type of plain milk chocolate they like, so I don’t see this flying off the shelves.

“Fans might buy it this year because it’s a novelty, but I expect it will be a bit of a one-hit-wonder.”

One Terry’s fan said: “This is as wrong as my favourite milk chocolate adding orange flavour.”

Another described the new choc as “pointless” but added: “Obviously I bought one.”

Terry’s released the Dessert Chocolate Apple, its first fruit-flavoured segment choc, in 1926.

Since 1932, the Chocolate Orange is the only flavour to stand the test of time.

Lorène Decam, at Terry’s, said: “Launching a plain version is something most brands start with but Terry’s will always be different.

“Who knew forgetting the orange could be so ballsy?”
