Two Arizona residents sentenced in Oklahoma for possessing counterfeit pills containing fentanyl

ROLAND, Okla. (KNWA/KFTA) — Two Arizona residents were sentenced in Oklahoma earlier this week for possessing counterfeit pills that contained fentanyl, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Devier Tamon Washington, 25, and Gabriel Donte Cunningham, 28, were sentenced for one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl on Wednesday.

Washington received 63 months in prison and Cunningham received 34 months.

Investigators said on March 29, 2022, law enforcement stopped the two for speeding on Interstate 40 in Roland. The car was searched and authorities found 30 plastic bags containing counterfeit oxycodone pills with fentanyl, a loaded gun and around $4,000 in cash.

Washington pleaded guilty on December 19, 2023, and Cunningham pleaded guilty on January 10, 2024.

Both will remain in U.S. Marshal custody pending transportation to a Bureau of Prisons facility to serve non-paroleable sentences of incarceration.

The charges came from investigations by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Roland Police Department and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics.
