Meet the man who will continue Alice Green's legacy

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Inside the Center for Law and Justice on Albany’s South End — from newspaper articles to biographies to artwork and campaign posters — mementos of the memory of Dr. Alice Green are all over the place. This is the institution that the late doctor built, this is the legacy that Ta-Sean Murdock will carry on.

“It's been rather difficult especially when a loss is so sudden, and you know when you're not expecting it. So it's been rough, but Dr. Green would want us to push on” said Murdock.

While echoes of the late doctor linger, continuing her mandate is at the forefront of the center's agenda.

“Zero youth detention, the reparations commission, anything around social justice and inequality…and even prison reform. Dr Green would want us to continue those things," said Murdock.

Ta-Sean sees his interim leadership as a team effort. The Center takes a similar approach to leadership on their causes. “The other end is teaching the community how to advocate for themselves so that they can be the voice behind the change and it not necessarily be a non-profit organization" Murdock explained.

The main message he wants to get across is that the center isn’t going anywhere.

"Dr. Green would say that the fight continues because we're still in the struggle. And so you know we want the community to know that we're still here, and we're still organizing, and we're still advocating!" Murdock told NEWS10.

Murdock is the interim head of the organization. The CFLJ's Board of Directors will eventually decide on permanent leadership.
