Wells Fargo employee found dead in office cubicle 4 days after clocking in

(NEXSTAR) – A 60-year-old Wells Fargo employee was found dead in an office cubicle four days after scanning into the corporate building in Tempe, Arizona, authorities said.

Denise Prudhomme had last scanned into the office around 7 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, the Tempe Police Department said in a statement to Nexstar.

The following Tuesday, a security guard called 911 after discovering an unresponsive employee at a desk on the third floor. Tempe police could not confirm whether it was Prudhomme's assigned desk. She was pronounced dead at 4:55 p.m.

Local NBC affiliate KPNX reported that a colleague, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said several people had noticed a foul odor but attributed it to plumbing issues.

While police are still investigating, no foul play is suspected at this time. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner will determine her cause of death.

In a statement to KPNX and CBS affiliate KTVK, a Wells Fargo spokesperson offered condolences and said the company is working with authorities.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with their family and loved ones during this difficult time," the statement reads. "Counselors, through our Employee Assistance Consulting service, are available to support our employees. We are fully cooperating with the Tempe Police Department in their investigation and will direct all further questions to them."

Nexstar also reached out to Wells Fargo for a statement and is awaiting a response.
