Experts slugfest: Anonymous Emmy Phase 2 ballots revealed as voting closes
Emmy voting closed on Monday and while we wait for the first batch of winners at the Creative Arts Awards next weekend, Gold Derby editors and Experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here with some anonymous ballots.
Our voters from June are back to share their winner picks in the program categories. Did anyone vote for a series that they did not nominate? Did anyone catch up on nominees they hadn’t seen yet? Did anyone abstain? Spoiler alert: The series frontrunners — “The Bear,” “Shōgun” and “Baby Reindeer” — did not dominate.

Meanwhile, two current series nominees have new seasons dropping after voting has closed. Season 4 of “Only Murders in the Building” premiered on Tuesday and Season 4 of “Slow Horses” launches next Wednesday. Should they have kicked off earlier to to get an extra boost before Phase 2 voting? “Only Murders” has premiered new seasons before final voting the past two years, but that didn’t translate to any major wins.
