Marques Keith Brownlee, also known as MKBHD, is a YouTuber best known for his tech reviews.
He was born and raised in Maplewood, New Jersey on December 3, 1993.
In 2011, he graduated from Columbia High School and would go on to major in business and information technology at the Stevens Insitute of Technology.
After graduating in 2015, Marques became a full-time YouTuber where he would discuss new tech products that had just been released.
Later that year, the young YouTuber interviewed Kobe Bryant on his channel and also asked candidates of the 2016 Democratic presidential primary debates a question about tech privacy.
In December 2020, he was placed in the Forbes 30 under 30 listing in its social media category.
Marques has a reported net worth of around $8.5million, according to Forbes.
How did MKBHD become famous?
Marques uploaded his first YouTube video in 2009 while he was still in high school.
In the video, he reviewed new products that had just come out, as well as, a few he already owned.
However, his channel went viral in 2013 after he performed various scratch tests on the LG G Flex to show its self-healing abilities.
The following year, Marques’ video where he reviewed and scratched-tested the rumoured 4.7-inch sapphire display component for the iPhone 6 gained huge popularity.
His tech review on the phone appeared on Forbes, Time Magazine and was featured on NBC News.
That video has amassed over 9 million views and over 60,000 likes.
Since his channel’s rise to fame, Marques has interviewed senior figures in the tech industry, as well as, influencers and sports personalities.
The tech review has collaborated with the likes of Elon Musk, Barack Obama and Bill Gates.
Marques was crowned creator of the decade at the Shorty Awards in April 2018.
And has since taken on a co-hosting role in a technology podcast called, The MKBHD Podcast.
